Southern Bel Cantos
Kris Carlisle, Piano
Dr. Carlisle received his DMA in Piano Performance from the Clairmont Colleges in Southern California and is currently an Associate Professor of Music at Berry College. He has performed and lectured throughout the United States and Europe including the Rome Music Festival, Rome, Italy, the Center for the Arts, Banff, Canada, the American Institute for Musical Studies, Graz, Austria, as well as performing in Scotland and Ireland. He is a music instructor for the Georgia Governor’s Honor Program and he has received two American Prize Awards (2015, 2017) for his research and recordings “championing contemporary piano music by American composers.” He recently received a fellowship to the Hambidge Center for the Arts in Highlands, Georgia.
Diana Cancryn, Soprano
Ms. Cancryn holds degrees in music from the Eastman School of Music as well as Indiana University School of Music. Originally from Long Island New York, highlights of her career include serving as Artist in Residence at the Banff Center for the Arts, in Banff, Canada, and performing the role of Susanna in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro with Italy’s Rome Opera Festival. She is a featured soloist with the Nashville Opera and the Aspen Opera Theatre. Reflecting on her rich experiences as a classical singer of color, Ms. Cancryn created, produced, and stars in Portraits; The First Black American divas of song and Opera, a musical theatre production which was adapted into a film version by the same name available on DVD (www.firstblackdivas.com). Ms. Cancryn is a Professor of voice at Middle Tennessee State University School of Music.
Tiffany Uzoije, Soprano
Ms. Uzoije made her RSO debut last year in the “Magic of Christmas” holiday concert. She holds degrees in vocal and opera studies from Belmont University, Nashville, and the Peabody Conservatory at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, Maryland. She has performed with Opera Memphis, Nashville Opera, and is now a member of the Atlanta Opera where she has appeared in several recent productions including Turandot, Don Pasquale, and Carmen. A solo recitalist as well, Ms. Uzoije resides in Atlanta.
FRAN DANIEL LAUCERICA, TENOR
A native of Florida, Mr. Laucerica is proud to be the first winner of RSO’s Emergent Talent Program and will be making his Georgia state premiere with this performance. He is a recent graduate from the prestigious Northwestern University Bienen School of Music near Chicago. Throughout 2016,2017 and 2018, Mr. Laucerica has had an impressive slate of performances with Northwestern Opera theatre, Chicago Summer Opera, Chicago Symphony Chorus, Miami Music Festival, Cambridge Chamber Ensemble, and in 2016, he received The American Prize 3rd Place for Men in Opera, University Division.
