Aaron Copland: America’s Composer

Saturday, June 11th, 2022 at 7:00 p.m.

“The Cove” at Darlington School * (venue subject to change)

Every country boasts a respected classical composer as one of their own. Austria has Mozart. France has Debussy. Germany has Bach. The United States? We have Copland. Aaron Copland’s music is one of the true musical hallmarks of “America,” juxtaposing classicism and modernism in a way only a true genius could. During Aaron Copland: America’s Composer, audience members will get to hear that genius up close – in the RSO’s most intimate performance venue – “The Cove” of Darlington School.

Featuring Copland classics such as Hoedown and Old American Songs, our traditional season-ending outdoor concert will pay tribute to the master of American music (and several of his contemporaries!) in a beautiful outdoor setting. Audience members are encouraged to come early (doors open at 6 p.m.) with snacks and beverages of their choice. Eat, drink, listen to great music, and enjoy this celebration of Americana at its finest!
